New Year

Welcome to 2012! The year has gotten off to a busy and exciting start for me. I’ve been very fortunate so far to be playing a lot both in and out of school. The Juilliard Artist Diploma ensemble has gotten off to a great start since forming in September, including a fall tour in Costa Rica and a our debut recording as a band, Here and Now, which features guest artist Wycliffe Gordon on trombone. The group has a busy schedule coming up in the spring that will take us to South Carolina, Central America, and Europe by the end of the semester. Outside of the academic world, I recently had the opportunity to perform for three nights with Nicholas Payton’s Television Studio Orchestra, and I’m currently preparing for a performance with Miguel Zenón to premier Puerto Rico Nacio en Mi; Tales from the Diaspora, a new set of music he has composed for his quartet joined by a 12 piece big band. New York and other news

By now, many of you have already heard the news, but I will be moving to New York City next week! I’m really excited to get settled there and start playing as much as possible. Also, starting in September, I’ll be headed back to school as a member of the Artist Diploma ensemble at Juilliard. I’ll be working with this sextet for the next two years, performing and teaching in NYC as well as throughout the US and abroad. I’m really looking forward to meeting and working with the other students there, as well as having the opportunity to study with the incredible faculty.

In other news, I’ve had two very positive reviews of “The Long Way” – one from Canada and another from Portugal. Here are links to each:

Official CD Release on April 13th!

It’s finally here! The official release date for “The Long Way” is April 13th, 2011. I’ll be playing with my quintet that night at The Beehive in Boston, MA, and the next night at Chianti in Beverley, MA. That weekend we will also be at Wally’s, with trumpeter Jason Palmer joining my band to showcase some new arrangements of the music on the album. Please visit my “Upcoming Shows” page for more information on these and other performances.

Additionally, starting April 13th, “The Long Way” will become available through iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, CD Universe, and many other digital music distributors. It will also remain available for purchase or download right here on my website, and I will have copies for sale at all of my gigs. Please take a moment to preview one of the tracks!

Welcome! I’m really excited for the launch of this website, as well as the upcoming release of my debut album, “The Long Way”. This recording features eight of my original compositions, and on it I am joined by an amazing band – Greg Duncan, Pascal Le Boeuf, Ben Street, and Lee Fish.
